Workflow

Decide everything
before you go

SimLens turns pre-trip decisions into a clear workflow so you can complete every key step before you go

01

Set Observation Point

Choose your viewpoint first. It defines your base composition.

02

Set Focal Length and Sensor

Adjust focal length and sensor size. Match your framing in advance.

03

Field of View Simulation

Preview the visible range. Know what fits before you arrive.

04

Direction and Timing

Align direction with timing. Plan for light and sky conditions.

Pre-trip Decision

Check the frame first then decide whether to go

SimLens turns maps into predictable visual outcomes. You can validate your composition before you arrive and decide with more confidence before stepping on location.

View Simulation

Start from a real-world viewpoint and calculate the field of view based on focal length and sensor size. What once relied on intuition and experience becomes something you can clearly evaluate. You no longer need to be on-site to understand how the frame will actually look.

Composition Validation

Define your frame using a viewpoint and reference points, then quickly determine whether your subject fits within the shot. If the composition does not work, you will know before making the trip, saving both time and unnecessary effort.

Turn uncertainty into decisions before you arrive.

Before you begin Things to know

Data Source and Reliability
SimLens uses OpenStreetMap and other public geographic data. These sources are widely used but may contain inaccuracies. It is not designed to provide perfect precision, but to help you make better composition decisions before you go.
Free to Use
SimLens is currently free to use. Core features are available without registration. You can review viewpoint setup, focal length simulation, and frame preview before deciding whether to go on location.
Costs and Support
Although the tool is free, there are ongoing costs for map services, data transfer, and maintenance. If SimLens is useful to you, you can support the project via Buy Me a Coffee.
